You may have
tangible wealth untold:
Caskets of jewels
and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be-
I had a mother who read to me.

- The BOOK IT! Beginners® Program starts in March
and runs through April. Preschools, pre-kindergartens, and licensed
child-care facilities with four or more enrolled 3-5 year olds
are eligible to participate.
- Teachers read to the children in their class at
least 60 minutes a week for eight weeks during March and April.
They write the name of each book they read--or the amount of time
read--on an interactive cutout, which they then tape or glue onto
the BOOK IT! Beginners poster.
- At the end of each four-week reading period,
teachers will present each of the children in their class
with a certificate, which they can take to a participating
Pizza Hut® restaurant for their very own free, one-topping
Personal Pan Pizza® and a BOOK IT! Beginners Activity
Sticker Sheet. There is no purchase necessary and the pizza
can be taken to go.

5 Ways You Can Support BOOK IT! Beginners at Home |
-
Ask your child's teacher or child-care provider for a supply
of cutouts to use at home when you read aloud to your child.
Return the cutouts to place on the classroom poster. The more
cutouts...the more reading!
-
Set a designated time for reading at home each day.
-
Read aloud 20 minutes at home each day at that designated time.
-
Let your child see you read at home.
-
Celebrate when your child receives their BOOK IT! Beginners
Reading Award Certificate.
